Wet n Wild Vanity Palette: Review + Look

I nabbed this palette for a mere $2.49 when it was on 50% at Walgreens! I am very pleased. I didn't like the original price even though I had seen a ton of reviews saying these were awesome. More importantly, it filled my need for the Mac Tartan Tale palettes... hey, these are better pigmented!

I may get more before the sale stops, but for today I have the Vanity palette for you... a.k.a. 6 shades of gold/brown gorgeousness:

The texture of the shimmering shades are just gorgeous and the mattes are impressive for a drugstore brand. Even Mac can't get their mattes right, come on now!

Top row, left to right:
Matte beige, matte medium brown, matte dark brown
Bottom row, left to right: Frosty white, shimmering yellow gold, shimmering medium brown

It's strange that for once, the matte shades are more vibrant than the shimmery shades. The shimmer side may come through stronger over a base... I'm scared to see the matte shades with one! The dark brown was SO pigmented that it stained my finger a little.

The matte medium brown is comparable to Naked from the Urban Decay Naked palette... maybe a touch darker, but not as dark as Buck. On the same vein, the matte beige is similar to Virgin from Urban Decay without the shimmer.

I like this palette -- I do think the pigmentation is a little lacking but again, these may need a base. The gold is the most lacking in my opinion.

After doing a look with them, I really like them! I am a little scared of golds as my skin is cool toned, so this is a great lightly pigmented palette for that. I did have to layer on the gold a little though... but still, for $2.49, you can't go wrong!

Here's my look:

FACE:
- CoverGirl Tinted Moisturizer, fair to light
- Maybelline Super Stay concealer "Cream"
- Mac Prim and Proper blush
- Mac Gold Deposit MSF
- Mac Studio Fix powder (blend out the blush)

Looking back on the photos, I can see the beginning of the fever that I spent the rest of my weekend with, lol!

  1. Thanks for the great review! I, too, picked this up on the 50% off sale...I havent tried it yet as I was "second guessing" my purchease as I am cool toned too. The shadows look totally lovely on you!!! I am going to have to try this soon! I love when a $2.50 item is comparable to a high end brand! :) Yes, $2.50 is a great deal on these!!!

  9. Very gorgeous look! And your brows are great :) It's weird, I went to my local Walgreen's and they didn't have any Wet 'N Wild- so sad! But glad you found something good!
