Revlon and Sally Hansen Rant

Just a quick post... my main focus is the upcoming Morgana Minerals post.

I got Revlon Gum Drop as I wanted a light purple nail color. It got good reviews and I picked it up on a Buy One, Get One special.

This nail polish is crap.

I waited nearly 30 minutes and it still wasn't dry. It was also insanely hard to manage while trying to apply it -- it was very thin but adhered quickly so it would run everywhere and then gloop up, but it wasn't actually dry. Not impressed.

It's supposed to smell when it dries and I thought it smelled awful. It was like scented nail polish remover (ever come across that? Yeah, it stinks.) As for the color... it's only okay. It's kinda dusty in lower lighting and I don't like how it looks.

I had gone through and done stickers and everything...

Look at the bubbling. That is 45 minutes after applying (excuse the messy cuticles, I didn't keep this one, obviously). That bubbling is thanks to Sally Hansen's "Diamond Shine" top coat. This is quite possibly the worst top coat I've ever used. You're better off painting water over your lacquer. I don't exaggerate. It does nothing to prolong the wear time, speed up the drying and it doesn't even make them shiny. It's utter crap. This is the 3rd mani I've done with this stuff and every single time, the polish has bubbled.

I could return it but you know what? I got it with discounts for $2.95. I'm canning it.

Yeah, I'm upset, to say the least. Was a perfectly good mani, then this happened. See all the bubbling at the cuticle? I didn't paint it that way, but by the time it dried, it had done that.

Another thumbs down for Revlon (see my Grow Luscious mascara review) and a possible no-buy from Sally Hansen from now on.

My first video review!

Oh please... lord, I need the support. I despise myself on camera.

Hope this helps some people out!

FOTD: Sunset w/ Strong Crease

My intention for this was for it to be a sunset look... it didn't come out how I wanted really but I still like it. I'm having major issues with either my TFSI, eyeshadows, or brushes. I feel like I can't get vibrant color payoff lately, everything I do is just shimmery with a hint of whatever color I want intending for it to be. I'm gonna give my brushes a good deep cleaning this weekend and see if maybe they're just worn out and need replacing. But in the mean time, it's been awfully frustrating.

I was slightly inspired by Marlena's recent Cherry Coke tutorial, I loved the sharp purple crease. I also realized while trying to do this that I need better brushes... mine just seem to blend the color away no matter what I do.

I also incorporated my To The Beach goodies! Love the lipstick and lipglass :)

Enjoy!

FOTD: I think it's about the lips

I wore this to work and literally got asked 3 times if I work at Mac normally. For reference, I work at Clinique/Lancome/Lauder... I was working in fragrances that night. I really want to know why people think that. I know it's bright, but really?

Purple dramatic look

So, no new hair for Wendy tonight :( Sadness.
Apparently, when they scheduled my appointment, the scheduler didn't account for the fact that my color girl was off work 1 1/2 hours after my appointment time. She needed at least 2 - 2 1/2 hours to do what I wanted. So I go back Saturday... :( :(

I'm still posting this awesome look I did earlier XD. I've determined that I need a better purple, my purples just suck...

Monthly Favorites: Volume 1

Every other makeup person is doing it. So. Yeah.

- Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat (it's a base coat). I got this from Sally for $5.99, I believe. It's really good! It definitely prevents staining and I've noticed when combined with my Seche Vite topcoat, the nail polish can be peeled off in one chunk.
- Bath and Body works Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin body spray. Yes, I know. I'm a whore for this shit.
- Victoria's Secret shimmer lotion in Love Spell. Oh my god is all that needs to be said.
- E.L.F. professional bronzing brush. I looked on their website for this and it's not the same one I have, mine is from Target and is black. I love this thing, seriously. It's amazing for blush and it was only $1!
- Rimmel blush in Pink Rose. Very pretty and sheer. Perfect for me... too bad it's discontinued.
- L'Oreal Voluminous mascara in Black Brown. I'm impressed with this mascara! It gives nice volume and length with minimal clumping on multiple coats.
- CoverGirl TruShine lipstick in Plum Shine. Gorgeous color, especially with Mac's dazzleglass in Funtabulous over top.
- Revlon matte eyeliner in #04, Pure White. Decent for the waterline.
- The Body Shop Aloe Soothing Day/Night Cream. Just switched to this from my clean and clear moisturizer and I love it. It's cleared up the redness in my skin like crazy. My bottle is a bit old so I don't get the soothing effect, but I will definitely rebuy.
- China Glaze nail polish in Harmony. Gorgeous purple/silver metallic. Great staying power as well, think I wore it for 4 days with no chipping.

Taylor Swift: Fifteen MV Look

Copyright stuff: I do not own any of the Taylor Swift photos... I print screened them off of universalmusicgroup's channel from her video.
General Disclaimer: I purchased all of the products mentioned myself and am not being endorsed by any company or corporation
to list said products.

Here is the look I am doing today:

PRODUCTS:

Face:
- Mac Studio Fix Powder in NC25
- Mac Select Moisturecover concealer in NW20
- NYX Loose Powder in Translucent
- Mac MSF in Gold Deposit
- Mac blush in Prism
- Mac e/s in Sushi Flower (as blush)

Eyes:
- Mac e/s in Folie (brows)
- Mac shadestick in Beige-ing (above top lash line)
- Mac e/s in Texture (very very very lightly in crease, bottom lash line)
- Mac e/s in White Frost (above top lashes with a tiny brush, inner corner)
- Sephora waterproof liner in Deep Black (smudged on top and bottom)
- Revlon matte e/s in Vintage Lace (brow)
- Little bit of the foundation just under the smudged liner
- Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara in Very Black

Lips:
- CoverGirl TruShine lipstick in Fire Shine (blotted afterwards)
- Mac marbelized lipglass in Nice Mix Up (lightly over lips)
- Sephora gloss in Rosy Glow

Tips:

- I did the best I could with the lipstick. It's more orange at some points in the video and more coral in others. I sort of did in the middle.
- Bring the eyeliner out in a slight wing
- False lashes are preferable to the zillion coats of mascara I used. I just dont have any at the moment.

And here it is! I think it came out pretty well.

I stole the base idea from MakeupGeek (Marlena) and just used different products.

- Mac mineralize skinfinish in Gold Deposit (above the blush)

EYES:
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance

I ended up changing it after I took the pics and just went with Mac's dazzleglass in Funtabulous. The hot pink was good for photos but just wasn't wearable. I just used a cheapie 99 cent Wet 'n Wild lipstick.
