New Wet n Wild & NYC Product Swatches (including a Viva Glam Nicki dupe!)

I chanced upon a few bits at the drugstore today. I had been on the lookout for the two additional new shades of the Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks and FINALLY found them at Kmart. They also had some other new stuff too, so I figured I'd do a little post for you!

First up, I got 3 additional shades of the Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks. 2 are new and 1 is from the older, original line. These vary in price, anywhere from $1.97 to $2.99.

Left to right is Wine Room, 24 Carrot Gold (adorbs) and Pinkerbelle.

Pinkerbelle is a creamy yellow pink.

Right off, Pinkerbelle is a dead on dupe for Mac's Viva Glam Nicki. (Nicki is on the right) Nicki may be ever so SLIGHTLY more red toned, but the difference is barely noticeable and certainly won't be noticeable on the lips. Nicki is for charity so in this case, I don't necessarily advocate running out and buying Pinkerbelle instead, but it's good for someone that definitely doesn't have the $14.50 to spend but wants this color. For myself, Pinkerbelle is going in my kit so that I can conserve Nicki and not use the more expensive lipstick on shoots.

24 Carrot Gold is a very yellow toned bright orange. It's nearly neon but not quite. This reminds me of Cheetos, just being honest.

Sorry for the wonky swatches but this is a quick comparison for you. 24 Carrot Gold is in the middle with Mac Vegas Volt on the left and Wet n Wild Purty Persimmon on the right. Purty Persimmon is much more red toned in comparison to 24 Carrot Gold and Vegas Volt isn't anywhere close.

Last but not least, Wine Room. This is from the original release but I have had my eye on it for a while. It's such a unique and pretty shade. I really love these lipsticks.

Next is another new product from Wet n Wild, the Megashield lip colours:

These boast an SPF of 15 with creamy, long lasting colour. The packaging on these is really awful. My first purchase still has tons of adhesive all over the lid, but the second one came off more cleanly. I don't know what Wet n Wild were thinking! At least these have the names on the bottom. I've worn Salsa Lessons all day and it lasts through eating, only needing a minor touch up, and I easily wore it for around 9 hours comfortably. These are $2.99.

Left is Salsa Lessons and the right is A Currant Affair. Both of these are creamier shades. I will warn you that much of this line is heavily 80s frosty so definitely check out blog swatches before you buy any random shades. There are maybe only 4 or 5 creamy shades in the massive colour range. It's a little bit of a shame, but I do love these two.

That's it for the Wet n Wild items, but I have a couple of quick swatches of some new NYC offerings!

This is the Sun 'n' Bronze Bronzing Powder. I have the shade Hamptons Radiance. There appeared to be 3 shades in total and this was the lightest. The other two appeared to be quite dark but after how this one swatched, maybe not so. I believe this was $3.99.

I don't know how I feel about this as a bronzer. I would definitely use this as a blush though! It's a really gorgeous golden sheer pink. It took a little work to build it up so I think this would work best as a fair blush on lighter skinned gals, and a highlighter on medium skin.

I also picked up the new NYC City Proof Extended Wear glosses. The color selection was a little bland but then I spotted this lovely metallic ruby and a rosey nude, and decided to try those.

The top is Midnight Rose and the bottom is Round the Clock Ruby.

Round the Clock Ruby is a very pigmented neutral red and has a slight metallic sheen to it.

Midnight Rose is a blush nude with tiny blue sparkles. Gorgeous!

The gloss is quite thin and slightly tacky but the color is buildable. I think you could wear these quite sheerly or layer them for more opacity. I love the subtle sparkle in both shades. I haven't tested the wear time on these yet so I can't report on that. I will warn you to check your glosses carefully as the packaging is quite easy to open; you just twist the cap and it breaks the plastic seal. You may get one that is already opened and you can't actually tell just by looking at it!

Pfew, what a swatch fest! See anything you like? Hope this helps!

  6. I have WnW 24 Carrot Gold, which looks very orange on me, not a color I normally wear but I love it! Can't be spending $$$ for something I'd wear just occasionally
