FOTD: I haz Inglotz.

Well, I've HAD Inglot for a while and have been too scared to have a play ><

I was inspired by Ruthy at Ruth's Make-up who did a really lovely summery blue look yesterday, and wanted to try my hand at it. The only problem I had was that the bright blue was coming out a bit patchy, and more so in photos, grrr! Anyway, here's what I came up with!

FOTD: Jealousy Wakes

DOES this need much of an introduction? I think not. We all know that Temptalia created an eyeshadow for Mac called Jealousy Wakes and by the title, I've obviously used it in a look ;-)

The eyeshadow has a lovely pigmented texture but did take a little work to get even. It's almost TOO pigmented. I used a fluffy blending brush to apply the color and even after dipping into the pot only once, I had SO much green around my eyes. It went a little higher than I wanted so I just went with it.

FACE:
- CoverGirl Aqua Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer in Fair to Light
- Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer in Light
- Maybelline SuperStay concealer in Cream

FOTD: Bleeding Coral

Oh yes, that says bleeding coral. Mostly because I can't come up with a better name for this as it's literally peachy cantelope tones with red and orange thrown in the mix.

As USUAL, my camera would not capture the red and orange tones correctly so it appears like there's a relatively harsh line of orange, when in real life everything blended smoothly. Also, as usual, the look was more vibrant in real life. Last thing is that I didn't wear the coral lips out; I had a coral shirt on as well so it was a bit overkill. Just did it for the photos :)

I'm almost done choosing the giveaway winner, I've been compiling the entries into a spreadsheet to use random.org to pick a winner. I am really sorry for the delay!

FACE:
- CoverGirl Aqua Smoothers Tinted Moisturizer in Fair to Light
- Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer in Light
- Maybelline SuperStay concealer in Cream
- Mac MSF Natural in Light Medium
- Mac blush in My Paradise

EYES:
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Coastal Scents 88 Palette (pale orange, brighter orange below it and vibrant matte red)
- Orange eyeshadow from the Sleek Sunset palette
- MUFE #5 eyeshadow
- Ulta eyeliner in Bronze with darkest brown eyeshadow from 88 palette over top
- Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara (brownish black)

LIPS:
- Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Coral Reef
- NYX gloss in Chestnut

New Makeup Swatches and Chatter

I don't have much in the way of looks to post right now, I am still working through some of my unused makeup and will definitely have some to post soon. I've also been working on another project that I will announce very soon, but not yet ;-)

Couple of things:
I've got a Facebook giveaway for a pair of Ardell lashes going on here: https://fbcdn-photos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/255600_193315280721268_143025935750203_580378_2112038_s.jpg
I usually tend to include other goodies for people so be sure to enter that, it's so simple!

I did a swap with Priscilla (MUJunkie88) and put the videos in this post: http://cydonianmakeup.blogspot.com/2011/06/swap-videos-between-me-and-mujunkie88.html
I'm reposting that blog post because I noticed it wasn't getting much traffic, and then I realized that Blogger put it before a post that I actually did prior to it, so that may have been why.

Last, D. Sadie has a 100 follower giveaway going on here: http://www.dgsbeauty.com/2011/06/dgsbeautys-100-followers-giveaway.html
I'm not entering as I want others to have a chance to win, but I wanted to pass it on as we've been chatting on Twitter lately. Congrats on 100!

Anyway, onto the makeup stuffs!

I hadn't had a chance to show my Inglot palette yet, so I figured I would. I've done some eyeliner-y (is that a word?) looks with it but nothing full on... I'm a bit scared. They're eyeshadows are crazy pigmented! So here's that first:

Top 2 photos are with flash and the bottom is without.

Top photo is flash, again, and the bottom is without.
Left to right: 372, 371, 392, 379, 491

All of them are matte except for 491, which is a DS, or Double Sparkle.

I honestly can't tell you what the prices on these things are. I tried looking at my receipt but it appears that the cashier rung me up for the same items that Robyn got, and then added on my additional eyeshadows as my numbers on the receipt weren't right. Meaning, they didn't correspond with the eyeshadows I got in my palette (I can tell by the website it was wrong). I want to say it was something around £25. Robyn may know as we went together.

Their eyeshadows are fantastic, as most of you know already. If you don't know, go get some! Ordering online is pretty simple too and a lot of blogs are starting to put up more swatches. Temptalia is going through the entire eyeshadow collection but I will warn you that some of her swatches are inaccurate.

I needed to go to Ulta to pick up my tinted moisturizer, and I had a $3.50 coupon so I nabbed a few bits. Funny enough, the cashier scanned said coupon twice so I essentially ended up with a free Zoya polish. I'm including the other items I got for the rest of the post.

The LA Colors palette was from the cheapie store next door, and I was interested in the bright, summery color combo. I have a few yellows from other palettes, but the oranges are what stood out to me.

The Essence eyeshadow was some stupid price like $2 and it's a really lovely red coral, which is unique in a drugstore eyeshadow. Here are swatches:

Top is the Essence eyeshadow, which I believe is called It's Up to You.
The other 5 swatches are from the LA Colors palette, called Fiesta.

I'm looking at wearing all of these colors together for a sunset-y type look, maybe throw in some shadows from the Sleek Sunset palette? Who knows, we'll see! Essence has impressed me lately with their new summer offerings. I've been seeing a lot of blog reviews lately and I want to go back and check out the other eyeshadows (not so much the mattes) and new lipglosses.

This is a bit of a hodge podge of new stuff. Some of it is from England, and some is from Ulta.

Top is the eyeshadow that I got on sale from Inglot, Shine #31.
Left to right (bottom): MUA glitter liner Shade 6, MUA eyeliner in Forest Green, Ulta kohl eyeliner in Halo and Ulta automatic eyeliner in Bronze

The Inglot eyeshadow is a really pretty pale blue with gold flash. I want to pair this with 429P and a darker blue! The MUA eyeliners were sort of must-haves... pink glitter eyeliner? YES. The forest green liner is simply amazing for the price... excellent color payoff. Finally, I really like Ulta eyeliners and I like that they're on sale pretty much all the time. These were 2 for $6. Halo is a creamy off-white, which I prefer over white for the lower waterline, and bronze is a reddy metallic brown. The automatic liners are some of my favorite liners ever... good colors, smooth application and self-sharpening. You really can't go wrong!

Left side, top to bottom (lipsticks): BeautyUK Naughty, Sleek True Colour Coral Reef, Collection 2000 Pretty Please, WetnWild MegaLast 905D Smokin' Hot Pink, WetnWild Silk Finish 522A Dark Wine
Right side is BeautyUK Lip Lust in Envy

For some reason, I don't have a picture of the packaging for this group, sorry! The Collection 2000 one was a dupe for an Inglot lipstick that I wanted but didn't want to pay the price for. It's more coral than it shows in the photo. I thought Naughty was an orange (haha, did the same thing as Robyn) but it's definitely red. I like to pair Envy Lip Lust and the Dark Wine lipstick, really good combo for a night out!

That's pretty much all I have at the moment! I hope you enjoyed :)

FOTD: Who Says Bright Lips and Bright Eyes Don't Go?

I'm on a mission this week to use up every bit of unused items in my stash. I have a drawer of stuff (it's not full, in my defense) and I want to get through it before buying anything else.

This was my attempt to smash a lot of newer items together into one look and I like how it came out! It's similar to the Surf USA look I did but less teal and more green.

As for my last giveaway, I will announce the winner soon. I'm making a spreadsheet of the entries, which takes some time, and I'm also going to be posting photos of the people who submitted looks for the contest. I should have the winner up by the weekend, sorry for the delay!

Lady Gaga XFactor France Makeup Look

I finally did a celebrity look... and I'm actually proud of how it came out! I filmed it as a video tutorial but also took a load of pictures for those who just want to see the finished product.

I did it two ways because I was requested to do so -- I did a more wearable, natural version first and then mimicked the actual makeup next.

Here's a performance photo:

Here is my 'wearable' version:

FACE:
- Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in #120
- Maybelline SuperStay Concealer in Cream
- Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer in Light

- Medium brown from WetnWild Vanity Palette
- Mac Fluidline in Blacktrack
- Maybelline Define A Lash Volume mascara (black)
- Ardell Accent false lashes

LIPS:

For the actual performance look, here's what I did:

Everything same as above but in addition:

- MeMeMe Moonbeam liquid highlighter

FACE ART:
- e.l.f. liquid liner in Black

LIPS:
- Prestige lip liner in Red Brick
- WetnWild MegaLast lipcolour in 910D (Stoplight Red)

I don't have a turquoise wig or a fancy costume but eh, I think it came out pretty good!

Huge nail polish haul (with swatches)

I'm so sorry for not posting anything in nearly a week! I had to go to federal court for work which killed an entire day, then had a concert after work the next day... you get the idea. I was wearing Mac stuff during those days but just didn't have time to photograph the looks. I am going to be experimenting this week with doing a video tutorial as I have some time off from work. Anyway, rant over!

I have a confession: I feel guilty.

I shouldn't because it's not like I do this every week but over the last month or so, I've acquired a lot of nail polishes. So much that I ended up filling a nail wheel with swatches!

A few of you on my Facebook page said that they liked seeing hauls, so here we go! (btw, I'm having an Ardell Lash giveaway until 11:59PM EST -tonight- if you wanted to enter on Facebook (you have to 'like' the page): http://www.facebook.com/pages/Turtle-Beauty/143025935750203)

I told you it was bad... and I actually forgot 3 of them in that photo.

Left: Essence Irreplaceable (1 coat, no joke!)
Right: Zoya Dannii (1 coat, again)

Irreplaceable is a taupey pale brown with gold shimmer and a hint of purple flash. Very nice, especially for less than a buck!
Dannii is one I've been lusting after for a while, but wanted to see in person first. This is a medium violet with gold and pink shimmer. This makes me want Faye for sure, as I've heard that one is insane.

Left: Boots No7 Totally Teal (2 coats)
Right: Boots 17 Exquisite (2 coats)

Totally Teal is a creamy deep teal. This definitely needed 2 coats as it was a streakfest on the first one. I love this color -- think it's gonna be my go-to in the fall!
Exquisite is a sheer blue base with green/blue shimmer. Bit like a peacock. I like this but it's sheerer than I expected, so this will probably go over a blue or black creme.

Left: Boots 17 Catwalk Couture (2 coats)
Right: Barry M Indigo #312 (2 coats)

Catwalk Couture is a sky blue with a hint of pale blue shimmer (you can see it towards the top of the nail). Very nice and almost opaque in 1 coat.
Indigo #312 is an inky deep purple-blue, more purple than the photo shows (you know how cameras eat purple). The consistency is strange, it really is like ink. Very pigmented, pretty much good in 1 coat.

Left: Boots No 7 Sultry Sands (2 coats, limited edition)
Center: LA Colors Goddess (2 coats)
Right: BeautyUK Yellow Peril (2 coats)

Sultry Sands was an impulse purchase because of a £5 voucher I had for Boots. It's a bit sheer and now similar to Essence Irreplaceable, so this may go to my mom if she likes it.
Goddess is holographic hex glitter suspended in a pale bronze base. This is a bit lumpy so when using, I would only do 1 thick coat and use a good top coat.
Yellow Peril is AMAZING. How often do you see a good yellow? This is good in 1 coat, but I did 2 because I couldn't believe it. Formula is so nice.

Left: Collection 2000 Fruit Salad (2 coats)
Center: Sinful Colors Hazard (1 coat)
Right: Sinful Colors Mint Apple (2 coats)

I have to apologize for the crap picture. I somehow overwrote the original photo and had to use a photo that focused on other colors instead!
Fruit Salad is a red-based, creamy coral. More red than Hazard.
Hazard is an orange-based, creamy coral as well. This was more opaque than Fruit Salad but they don't look as similar in real life.
Mint Apple is a gorgeous mint green, bordering on jade. It has subtle gold shimmer... this is amazing! I'm not a fan of the pastel mint polishes, they make my hands look so red. This is much more flattering on me.

Left: Essie Coat Azure (1 coat, limited edition)
Center: Sinful Colors Let Me Go (2 coats)
Right: WetnWild Kaleidoscope (2 coats)

Coat Azure I managed to nab on sale for half price ($4). It's a medium blue, sort of a cornflower shade. It's not quite a cream but it doesn't have noticeable shimmer. Love this.
Let Me Go is a sheer purple base that shifts green and blue in the light. I knew it was sheer when I purchased it but the color in the bottle is a bit fooling, so don't go by that. I have enough blues and purples to layer this over for a year!
Kaleidoscope is a clear base with a ton of small holo glitter. I got this to wear over Coat Azure (and other polishes) and well, it was less than a buck...

Left: Sinful Colors Tapping Nails (1 coat)
Center: WetnWild Fast Dry Hannah Pinktana (2 coats)
Right: WetnWild Fast Dry Saved by the Blue (2 coats)

Again, sorry for the bad photo. I actually forgot these and had to photograph them after the sun went down.

Tapping Nails is -amazing-. What more do I need to say? It's a hot orange with orange and yellow shimmer. Bright without being neon or obnoxious.
Hannah Pinktana is a groaner of a name but a pretty polish. Sort of a pinky violet with holographic glitter (small). I knew this would be slightly sheer as I have the blue version of this. 3 thick coats will get good opacity, and these dry fast so no concerns there.
Saved by the Blue is another awful name but is a really nice, glowy medium blue. My best friend would love this (he loves blue). It's a little brighter than it shows in the picture.

Lastly, just for fun, I took a few shots of the colors mattified with Essie Matte About You.

A few of them look like house paint but the shimmery ones mattified nicely!
