Sleek Curacao Palette Review + FOTD

I figured it was high time to review this gem of a palette:

Robyn was kind enough to CP this for me. Sleek is sold at Boots, Superdrug and on Sleekmakeup.com. These palettes retail for £6.49, or about $10.50 (USD). With that, you get 12 1.1g/0.03oz. eyeshadows containing a total of 13.2g/.36oz of product.

Sleek palettes now come with a plastic insert sheet containing the names, which is much appreciated. There's a variance of finishes in the palette, from matte to satin to shimmer. As usual, you've got a very pigmented matte black included as well.

I swatched these over primer, using a single swipe of my pointer finger. These photos are in natural light.

Tequila Sunrise is a medium shimmer orange, almost reminds me of Cheetos!

Martini appears to be a matte fair skintone in the pan but on the skin, it lightens up to a very pale skintone shade, almost white, with subtle shimmer.

Blue Hawaiian is a matte sky blue with slight aqua tones. Decently pigmented, but probably needs a white base to really pop.

Bloody Mary is an intense primary red, matte finish. This had some pigmentation issues but I think it's definitely buildable and not a bad shadow.

Screwdriver is a sunny yellow with a satin finish. There's a slight hint of silver shimmer but overall, this is matte. This one is exceptionally buttery.

Green Iguana is a shimmering teal; think mermaid with this one.

Apres Midori (cute name) is a lovely intense green apple shade. I love this -- it's got shimmer without being so shimmery that you lose the intense green base.

Blue Lagoon is an intense matte primary blue. The pigmentation on this is fantastic, especially considering matte blues are very hard to do.

Purple Haze is a blackened purple, very slight shimmer. Similar to Make Up For Ever #92 but this has less red tones and is more of a true purple. Bit patchy but nothing terrible.

Green Martini is a shimmering deep green, bordering on olive. Very soft and smooth formula.

Singapore Sling is a shimmery medium pink with very slight violet flash. It's so subtle that you don't see it unless you look for it! Think Urban Decay's Woodstock on this (it washes out in natural lighting though!)

Espresso Martini is Sleek's standard matte black. I do wonder if this is supposed to be dark brown though because of the word 'espresso' in the title? Hm...

Some photos of the colors together... top is natural light and the bottom is flash:

Pretty, huh? Very rainbowy and fun.

Overall, definitely impressed with this palette. I love the range of finishes and that there really isn't a dud shadow anywhere in the palette. I think Sleek knocked it out of the park! There are formula differences, even within the mattes... for example, Blue Lagoon is more pigmented than Blue Hawaiian. But, sky blues are generally chalky in texture and even with that slight issue, that shadow is still plenty pigmented. I think this is a great bargain if you're wanting bright colors!

The Curacao palette is still available at SleekMakeup.com but is more than likely sold out at your local Superdrug.

For my FOTD, I ended up with something VERY Gaga-esque, in my opinion. I've played with the palette a bit since I got it, but I didn't have time or wasn't in a position to photograph it. I broke it out again this morning and wanted something dramatic but without using a lot of colors at once. The eyeliner was a funny story because I messed it up on one side, and had to make it thicker and thicker as I kept messing it up, until I ended up with half of my eyelid covered in liner! You know it's happened to you, don't lie! (The eyeliner is WAY thicker in person than it appears on camera, it's quite ridiculous.)
