Sugarpill Review + Swatches + Sparkly FOTD!

Susan from Darling Girl was nice enough to send me some little samples of her samples from Sugarpill (follow that?). I've been meaning to try the brand but I was a bit put off by the price of a full jar of pigment... I'm all about $1 samples :). I received these free of charge though as a gift so I feel a bit uncomfortable critiquing them... not that I have anything bad to say but I think a post just enjoying them is appropriate!

I'll be honest - this won't be too detailed of a review as I feel like most people know who Sugarpill is and where they can purchase them. I will just let you see the pretty colors and look with them!

I know everyone has said this, but their packaging is really nice! I like the design and the jar feels sturdy and fancy. I will have to properly thank Susan with candy or something, haha!

Left to right: Lumi, Birthday Girl and Decora

Lumi is a really amazing frosted white with strong teal/blue shift.

Birthday Girl was the only slight let down of the group. It's a sort of matte (?) pink. I just couldn't get a good swatch of it, it wouldn't spread evenly.

Decora is a bright medium pink with teal sparkles.

Left to right: Magentric, Asylum and Goldilux

Magentric is an absolute stunner - I literally gasped when I swatched it! It's an insanely shimmery fuchsia with violet shift.

Asylum is another 'wow!' shade. This is an intensely metallic red, slight hint of burgundy.

Goldilux is the ever famous insane sparkle gold. It definitely lived up to it's name! This is literally a molten gold with a ton of sparkle.

Left to right: Tipsy, Absinthe and Junebug

Tipsy is a shimmery darkened grass green. It's not got the brightness of a traditional grass green -- more dusky.

Absinthe is a beautiful lime chartreuse. Gold shift as well.

Junebug is one that I've heard a lot about and it's definitely pretty! Also hard to describe ;-). Think of a beetle shell minus the purple?

Left to right: Darling, Starling and Royal Sugar

Darling is a low shimmer medium teal. It has that slight mermaid effect, very pretty! I almost thought this was matte because of how it looked in the bag.

Starling is another high shimmer shade, and is a bright medium blue. There is contrasting bits of sky blue sparkle and shift as well.

Royal Sugar is another wee disappointment, but only slightly! It applied a little patchy for me. I'll know better when I actually use it on my eye. But, this is an intense primary blue with subtle teal sparkle. It reminds me of Orly Royal Navy in eyeshadow form!

Left to right: Magpie and Paperdoll

Magpie is a darkened teal with a lighter teal and blue tinge. Again, sort of beetle colors and very duochromey.

Paperdoll is really unique -- it's a light purple without being too pale or over the top glittery. It's got a good purple base and has some silver sparkle throughout.

Left to right: Weekender and Stella

Weekender is a very shimmery purple. It's not quite violet but leans more blue. This has a very intense silver sparkle... much more intense than Paperdoll (I prefer this).

Stella is a matte black with any color of sparkle you can imagine! This is a really cool shade as the glitter actually shows against the base. I'm thinking of a smokey eye with this!

Overall, I really like the shades I received! I would definitely recommend getting into a group purchase on these so you can get a sampling of tons of colors. My personal favorites are Absinthe, Asylum, Weekender and Magentric, so those are what I would recommend for sure.

And now for a FOTD with not much commentary as I've spent ages writing this post! Definitely time for bed for me, enjoy ;-)

  11. I have the Sugarpill pressed shadows and then Goldilux but not of the other loose ones, but I *need* them. And what I need the most is ASYLUM, Junebug, Magpie and Stella. I love the EOTD you posted. The quality of your eye photos are always s great, and it's so beautiful and well blended. It makes me think of the type of makeup one of Shakespeare's fairy characters would wear. *-*

  12. I got excited for a minute and thought Sugarpill was selling samples! Darn it! I really want to buy the Burning Heart Palette but have not dropped the $$ for it yet. Hard to justify spending $34 bux or so on four colors to my husband. But, man, I want it! Maybe for my bday....
