Darling Girl Cosmetics Review + FOTD

I feel so awful because I've had this stuff for ages and haven't reviewed it. I used some of it but the tiny packet got lost in my box of... stuff.

Anyway, I'm doing it now, don't beat me!

Stuffs! The eyeshadow in the bottom right was a gift with purchase (Angelfire) and Susan also included a sample of Neytiri lipstick and Plunder eyeshadow, which was so nice of her.

What I ordered:
- Eyeshadow samples in Snuggle, Chococat, Equinox, Capricious, Resolute and Lap Dance

- Blushes in Fantasia and Yes, Virginia!

- Aqua Liner in Designated Driver

Her shop is closed until the beginning of April but you can purchase from http://darlinggirlcosmetics.ecrater.com/

Eyeshadow samples are a mere 60 cents, the mini blushes were $2.00 each, and the liner was $3.00. My total came to $12.35 with shipping. Very reasonable.

The eyeshadow samples come in small baggies, the blushes are in mini sifters and the aqua liner comes in a little jar with a brush cap (think tiny, tiny nail polish).

Swatched on bare skin, left to right:
Top: Snuggle, Plunder, Chococat and Equinox
Bottom: Capricious, Resolute and Lap Dance

How amazing is Chococat? I'd heard so many good things about it and it's really lovely in person. I really like Equinox as well (it's got multi colored shimmer!) and Snuggle is a lovely goldy silvery taupe.

The only problem child was Resolute. In the bag it looked like a bronzey copper but it wouldn't swatch for some reason. You can see flecks of glitter on top of that odd looking base, but this either needs a really tacky base or I got an improperly mixed one.

The eyeshadows were good -- I was definitely more impressed with them over Pixie Epoxy when using them in a look. I got mostly taupes, and Capricious fills a gap in my collection... it's a really lovely red copper. Plunder is pretty as well... it's sort of an antiqued green/gold with some pinkish shimmer. I'm pants at describing colors!

Bare skin again, left to right:
Top: Neytiri lipstick, Angelfire eyeshadow, Designated Driver aqua liner
Bottom: Fantasia and Yes, Virginia! blushes

Neytiri is really pretty... it's sort of a red stain instead of a full on red lipstick. Angelfire is a pretty gold/brown and fills another gap in my collection. I don't have enough browns.

The aqua liner is interesting... I've never tried a liner from an indie brand before. It has a slight cooling sensation. I would recommend using it on bare skin or over light colored eyeshadow instead of darker shades as it tends to go very silvery over top of other brown and gold toned shadows, to where you can't see it.

The blushes are MAJORLY pigmented! I actually used too much of Fantasia in my FOTD! Fantasia has a lovely pink shift (it's more of an orange base) and Yes, Virginia! is more of a bubblegum pink/purple.

Overall, I liked what I got and I would definitely order again! Susan is currently working on holographic glosses so I may nab a few when they release... be sure to check them out!

For my FOTD, I used:

EYES:
- Too Faced Shadow Insurance
- Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
- DG eyeshadows in Snuggle, Chococat and Equinox
- DG Aqua liner in Designated Driver
- MUA Gold glitter eyeliner
- Maybelline The Falsies mascara in Black Drama

CHEEKS:
- DG Fantasia blush

LIPS:
- CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Kiss
- Mac Flurry of Fun lipglass

  2. @Pris: Thaaaanks :) <3

@Jess: I think High Voltage's Amplified eye primer is slightly tacky, but I'm not 100% sure how it compares, it may be more like TFSI or UDPP. I think she's reformulating it atm, it might not be on the site right now. Hm... maybe TFSI's glitter glue? That's really pricey though. The only other thing I can think of is LA Splash's glitter base. I can only ever find the regular eyelid primer at my local Ulta, but you might be able to find it... Petrilude and Xsparkage always use it. Thank you, btw!

  4. OMG I NEED FANTASIA! I've only tried the very pale pink blushes from DG but that color is really pretty and compliments your skin tone really well. I love DG and it was cool to see what you got!

  7. Fantasia looks amazing on you! :)

...and Resolute is an odd color, it definitely looks best of a sticky base but I may play around with it and see if I can a better color pay off.

Thanks for the revew and the lovely swatches. :)
