WetnWild Golden Goddess Holiday Palette Review + Look

Pfew, we are cranking through these reviews aren't we?

Today I have the last of my WetnWild Holiday palettes review... this one is the lovely Golden Goddess palette:











































This palette just screams fall, cold weather, Thanksgiving, cinnamon, apple pie... lol! It reminds me of all of these things, the shades are absolutely gorgeous!

I am surprised that this is my favorite of the 3 palettes I purchased. I don't normally lean towards warm colours like this but something just draws me in.

But how do they swatch? Let's take a look:





















Top row (left to right): Pale shimmering gold, bronzey glittery gold, fiery soft orange
Bottom row (left to right: medium coral with gold shimmer, strong foiled amber, dark sparkling brown (slight purple lean)

The eyeliner is a brown with gold sparkle, very lovely. Similar to Mac Lord It Up (the formula is completely different but if someone really wanted the colour of LIU, this is perfect)

The colours in this palette are rather hard to describe... they are quite unique so I find it hard to come up with proper colour words!

The pale gold is almost identical to Mac Creme de Miel from what I can tell, but I don't have Creme de Miel to compare. I do have two others to compare... the "strong foiled amber" and the "fiery soft orange" to Mac Amber Lights and Mac Firespot, respectively:

























The WetnWild swatches are on the left, and Mac on the right. The WetnWild version of Amber Lights is spot on, wow! I couldn't tell the difference in person and I love me some Amber Lights. The textures are even very, very similar.

On the Firespot comparison, the WetnWild has a darker base and Firespot itself is a little more sheer. Firespot is a bit chunkier and chalkier while the WNW is a lot smoother. I would consider them different enough to own both -- Firespot is lighter and the WNW is more of a burnt orange with the same goldish effect.

The look I came up with from this palette is my favorite of the 3 looks, and probably one of my favorites that I've done recently! The lip is much less orange than in the photos... I don't know what is going on with my colour settings.








































































































Notice anything about the photos? Yeah... I didn't have mascara on. I was trying a weird lash tinting technique I heard about. It obviously failed.

Wet n Wild Holiday 2010: Sugar Plum Fairies Palette Review + Look

Next up is the Sugar Plum Fairy palette from the WetnWild Holiday 2010 palette.






















Out of the 3 I have, this one had the lowest amount of pigmentation. That isn't to say it isn't a gorgeous palette, but I'm just noting that the others had more.

The eyeliner (bottom pic) is a gorgeous, perfect shade of purple BUT is a bit hard so it tugs on the eye a little. The other two from the sets are fine but this one was a little funny. I'll still work with it though -- it is a really nice shade.

The golden purple had me looking to see if it was a dupe for Mac Trax... let's take a look:

The WetnWild shade is on the left, Mac is on the right.

The WetnWild eyeshadow has a more pigmented base, therefore it is a stronger purple colour. The Mac one has gorgeous golden shimmer but so does the WetnWild... they are close enough for me to call them dupes.

The lighter pastel purple is similar to Beautiful Iris but again, but more pigmented.

Overall, another very good palette. I love the combination of colours, but then again I -love- purples. I will note that there is something interesting about the shade range in this palette... the purples are slightly greyed which gives them an interesting finish. I really loved the way they made my eyes look, and the colour in the bottom left pan is GORGEOUS. It goes on the lid slightly muddy and soft but when you put it under the lash line, it really pops. You'll see in the FOTDs :)

By the way, with these photos... imagine the lip color being a more baby pink/rose shade. I don't know why it was turning orange! Final thing is that my redness was really acting up on Saturday (that's when these were done)... so yeah, my cheeks are wrecked.

WetnWild Holiday: Night Elf Palette Review + Looks

I bought 3 of the 4 Wet n Wild Holiday palettes a little over a week ago, and of course this one drew me in the fastest. Red eyeshadow... from the drugstore? Count me sold.

These little gems sell for $4.99 and consist of 6 eyeshadows and a matching eyeliner. Pretty good deal... WetnWild has really been stepping up their game lately. I am hoping they release a new permanent line of the 6 pans from earlier this year... that would be awesome!

Anyway, back to this palette... look at the gorgeousness:






























































I will note that if you like to keep packaging, the packaging on these is a bit wasteful. The palettes aren't very large and literally half of the box is just open air! It's not a big deal for me but I've sent two sets of these to girls overseas and on one set, I took them all out of the boxes to save postage.

I have to stress the quality of these eyeshadows for the price. Even if they cost double for each palette, even triple, I would say they would still be worthy of the price tag. The color selection on these palettes is amazing for the drugstore... it's a refreshing change from the boring same old, same old we've been seeing from other brands. Hint hint guys, keep up with WetnWild, will you! :)

All colors in this palette are shimmery, which could be a complaint for some but I personally have enough matte skin tone highlighters to last me into the year 3000.

Upon inspecting the eyeshadows, I of course immediately starting calculating Mac Dupes. Let's check swatches first:




















These swatches are on bare skin, no base.
Top row, left to right: Off white/champagne shade (looks more silvery here), dirty golden taupe, brown/blue duochrome
Bottom row, left to right: Sparkling silver, mid toned satin red, satin black with sparkle

The matching eyeliner in the set is a really nice deep black with a slight silver sparkle... very good eyeliner despite the size, which is a little on the tiny side.

I can immediately spot the blue/brown shade being a dupe for Mac Club. I've read on some forums that it is more like Blue Brown pigment, which I've never seen in person so I cannot comment. I can certainly tell you that it's 5x more pigmented than Club though... this eyeshadow is insanely smooth and easily to apply.

The black with sparkle eyeshadow is a dupe for Mac Black Tied... again, it's more pigmented. I think WetnWild made a smart choice by making it more of a satin texture versus a matte with sparkle, even though they do mattes very well.

The red is a bit lacking in pigmentation but I wasn't really wanting a full on matte red eyeshadow... I like how it turned out in the upcoming FOTD I will show.

All of the colours are potential faves, they all apply very smooth and even with the exception of the silver. The silver is not as finely milled and I therefore had some fallout issues and creasing. Yes, creasing. I hesitate to bring this up because I'm not sure if I made an error in my eye prepping (I may have accidentally got some of my Clinique Redness cream on my eyelids) or if it is the eyeshadow. I have not had a chance to wear it again to tell for sure. I photographed my FOTD even though it was at the end of the day and one eye is very badly creased.

The next day I decided to try again with the other shadows to see if they would crease. I did not have the problem, though the blue sparkles in the brown shade did migrate around a little (no surprise there, it's a strange shade). Still, my makeup looked great at the end of the day. I did a brown sort of smokey eye, I guess?
