Darling Girl Spring Collection! Swatches and Review

I've got the new Darling Girl spring goodies to show you and I am so excited! Susan took some inspiration from the pantone colors of the season and fancy springtime tea parties and events. I'm working on a special project with these colors so stay tuned ;-).

Susan is opening her new shop soon so keep your eyes peeled here, I'll let you know when it's ready!

There are sixteen eyeshadows and two blushes. Susan also whipped up some new lip products and I have two of them to show you.

Let's start off with the eyeshadows (top pic is natural light, bottom is flash, colors are described from left to right):

Debutante is a rosey mauve pink with blue sparkle.

Bourgeois is a yellow based brown with subtle orange sparkle.

High Society is a pale lilac with pink and gold sparkle.

Scandelous is a gorgeous sunny yellow with sparkle -- hard to tell what, but I would say orange and pale blue.

Belle of the Ball is a cornflower, sorta blurpley color with blue sparkle. Gorgeous!

Beau Monde is an odd shade - it's got a murky grey-green base but has a violet shimmer overlay. I had some minor adherence issues with this one but it's a nice color.

Champagne Wishes is a soft brown nude with subtle silver sparkle. This reminds me of a baby deer!

Hoity Toity is a brick/blood red with slight pinky blue shift. Hard to describe as it's such a complex color.

Socialite is an absolute stunner -- it's a vivid blue with teal and gold shift. Reminds me of mermaids!

Garden Party is a shimmering grass green with gold shift, and blue sparkle.

Jet Set is a satin sky blue with aqua sparkle. This would be great over the new Watercolour she just added!

Party Crasher is a vivid orange with pink shift. I think this would work as a blush too.

High Tea is a grey nude with pinky sparkle. This is similar to Champagne Wishes only more cool-toned. Really lovely and I love the name!

Caviar Dreams is another stunner like Socialite -- very intense olive green with orange and gold shift.

The two new blushes are great additions to her blush lineup.

Cheeky is a satin coral pink. This has very subtle shimmer but it's not going to be over the top on your cheeks. The texture of this is SO soft and finely milled, it blends like a dream.

Bleeding Heart is absolutely AMAZING... it's a berry shade with a strong gold shift. I have to say that this is so unique, and I know that it will be a little dark on my skintone but I love it anyway.

One of the new lip products is a Liquid Kiss Luxe in the new click pen packaging. Susan also sent me a new Kiss You Off Color Rich Balm, in a shade that I requested!

Daring Daffodil is a creamy yellow with strong coral shift.

Her Majesty is a rose pink with a metallic gold overlay.

Daring Daffodil was really difficult to photograph as alone it looked really yellow and strange. The coral shift is much more noticeable in person.

Her Majesty is one of my favorite balms that she's ever done... it's exactly how I imagined it. I had been looking for a rosey pink forever, and all of them were either too neon, too dark or too frosty! This is just perfection.

Last but not least, I got two of the newer shades of Watercolour Paint Pots (I paid for these, fyi). These are cream eyeshadows that are creaseproof and easy to blend. I find that I get 6-8 hours of wear without creasing so I tend to wear a primer underneath these just to make sure they last through my work day.

Kiss My Clover is a pastel mint green which blends out to be much more subtle, with slight gold sparkle.

Peony For Your Thoughts is a pale pink-copper, also with a hint of gold when blended out.

That's all I've got from Darling Girl today... stay tuned as usual for some looks with the products! Do you see anything you have to have? Let me know!

Darling Girl Cosmetics: Only One Can Win Collection (Hunger Games)

Susan from Darling Girl has come up with an amazing collection inspired by the Hunger Games. I was honored to be a small part of the creation process along with Helen, Robyn and Mandy. The game begins on March 5 so let's hope the odds are in your favor! ;-) (if you haven't read the books, that means this collection will be available on March 5!)

Little touches like this are what I love about Darling Girl. The labels are so perfect for the story!

Let's get onto the eyeshadows...

Boy with the Bread is a warm taupe with subtle blue shift.

Live Wire is a hard color to describe... it's silvery with a slight green tinge.

Well Dressed is a little more purple than it shows here, but it's a near matte shade with tiny loose silver and purple sparkles.

Rue's Lullaby is a lovely dusty pink.

The Seam is a murky brown with green undertones and blue sparkles.

Fire Inside is one of my favorites... a rich red with gold and green sparks.

Mayor's Daughter is a stunning gold with a LOAD of multicoloured sparkles, mostly light blue, light peach and silver.

Obviously a Wig is another favorite, it's a gorgeous magenta with strong purple/blue flash.

Songbird Weaponry is a rich navy blue with blue and gold sparkles.

Squirrel Hunter is a brown toned green with light gold and silver (maybe a little green?) sparkles.

Survival Instinct was a hard one to capture as my camera kept turning it burgundy, it's more violet than this. The sparkle in this is INSANE and multicoloured.

The Final Gift is a yet another favorite, and is glowing metallic copper. This is another super sparkly shade, gorgeous!

Some natural light and flash shots of the colors in groups:

Last but not least, Susan created a lip balm for this collection called Love is an Act:

This is a coral pink with blue sparkles. The formula is up to her usual balm standards - not sticky, drying or tacky. It glides on super smooth and has decent opacity in one pass.

I absolutely love this collection, right down to the names! I think it encompasses the spirit of the characters and the plot of the Hunger Games. I honestly think it's my favorite collection of hers to date.

What do you think of Only One Can Win? Are you hauling anything? I hope so!

New Darling Girl Collection (Darling Grrl and Valentine's Day) Swatches!

I have swatches of some new items from Darling Girl -- first up is Darling Grrl, which is a punk rock inspired collection. This will be expanded with new colors as time goes on.

Left to right: Vicar in a Tutu, Miniature Sun and Die, Die My Darling.

Vicar in a Tutu is a bit like Mac Vex without so much green shift; a really gorgeous color. Miniature Sun changes a little when I use it on my lid. The yellow base lightens and it's more a pale yellow with strong blue glitter on me. Die, Die is a really interesting army green with pink sparkles.

Left to right, top first: Roots Radicals, Rise Above, How Soon Is Now and Wanna Be Sedated

Roots Radicals is a pretty green-teal with gold shift and some pink sparkles. Rise Above is a blackened navy blue; super sparkly! How Soon Is Now is an odd shade -- it's sort of taupe, sort of grey, but has hints of blue. Wanna Be Sedated is one of my favorites, it's a gorgeous chocolatey bronze with tons of sparkle.

Next up is the Valentine's Day mini collection. This has 3 eyeshadows and a blush that is a duochrome but can also be used as an eyeshadow.

Promise Ring is on the left and Cupid's Bow is on the right.

Cupid's Bow is a really soft white with gold sparkles, it's really lovely as a highlighter. Cupid's Bow is a surprise favorite -- it's a peachy pink, again, really soft and girly.

On the left is the blush, Be Still My Heart (swatched over Glitter Glue) and Lovestruck is on the right.

Be Still My Heart, when used as a blush, is a plummy brown. I had a really hard time photographing this without it looking bruise-like (it's my skintone) on the back of my hand, but I would definitely use this as an eyeshadow or as a contour on medium skintones. As an eyeshadow, it's more of a mahogany brown with a hint of plum. Lovestruck is fascinating -- it's similar to Comet from the Darling Deer collection, but it has a strange greenish twinge with pink sparkles. Love this one.

Pictures of the Valentine's Day collection together:

Lastly, just some odds and ends -- a previously unreleased eyeshadow and a blush, specifically, Susan's dupe for NARS Orgasm. I absolutely love the blush, I'm going to need a petit sized as I'm almost out of my sample already. I foiled the eyeshadow to show you the insane metallic-ness!

I love to use Sunshine Daisy Bliss over the Haystack Watercolour, it's such a flattering combo on brown eyes.

See anything you like? Let me know what you haul!
